Needless to say, I enjoyed The Final Empire.
It's been months since I finished the audiobook, and I finally got around to the second in Brando Sando's dark fantasy trilogy with an amazing magic system and epic worldbuilding. So far, I've been entertained by WOA, brought to life by the fantastic Michael Kramer, who narrates each word with a precision that I could only hope to match in my wildest dreams of an eventual audiobook of my own.
Anyway, onto the book review itself. As usual, Sanderson's worldbuilding is unparalleled and I still think the powers of a Mistborn are freaking dope. That said, the middle sections of the book, while they do ultimately work, tend to sometimes be a slog to get through. (2nd book curse? See my review on Starsight.) But as usual, when the appropriately named Sanderlanche (Brandon's habit of ending his books with lots of action and exciting twists) hits, oh boy does it deliver. Where Brandon lacks in middle sections, his endings always pack a punch. Overall, I'd say Well of Ascension isn't the best of the Mistborn trilogy, but by no means is it weak.
